Redemption Process for Newspaper Carrier Carriers gets the certificate and then registers online with the redemption centre. (Or via regular mail) The Redemption Centre sends the carrier a $25 voucher which the carrier fills out and mails back along with receipts for $100 worth of fuel that the carrier has already purchased. All receipts must be from the same brand of fuel. The carrier then mails the voucher and the receipts to the redemption centre and they get a $25 gas card mail directly to them for that brand of fuel, plus another $25 voucher so they can do the same thing next month. If the carrier registers online all the monthly vouchers are available for immediate download and no waiting for mailings to get started. Waiting for those first vouchers is only applicable if the carrier mailed the initial registration. Online is the best way to go! The user can keep repeating this process until the value of the certificate has been used up. The process is easy to use for the carrier and there is no administration for the newspaper company. Redemption centre has been around since 2004. There is a one time fee of $5.00 for the carrier to register into the system if they choose to mail the certificate for registration. The entire $5.00 is refunded in fuel with the redemption of the last fuel voucher for a fully completed certificate, so no real cost. There is no redemption fee if the end user registers online. There is only one certificate per household at any one time. The certificates must NOT be SOLD to the end user. They can only be GIVEN to the end user. Redemption FAQ's How can this work?? The reality is like most other issues when dealing with human populations. Many people simply won't do it! Carriers and end users alike, simply won't take the 10 minutes it takes to mail off some receipts and get free money. However, they still fully expect to get as much money as possible given to them directly from the newspaper or distributor... This program has a high redemption rate because of the nature of the product - fuel. As a participant in the program the newspaper or distributor is giving real value to the carrier force to offset a direct cost of doing business that the carriers really need and will really use. Redemption is simple - the fuel is real. The obligations or liabilities are between the user and the redemption centre. These certificates are NOT allowed to be sold to individuals for redemption, they must be given as an incentive or premium. The value to the fuel companies is creating brand loyalty. The rebate center earns a percentage for helping create brand loyalty. People have to buy fuel; oil companies know that, however people generally buy on convenience or cost. This program helps create some quantifiable brand loyalty as all the fuel must be purchased from the same brand and the gas card that is returned is also from that same brand.
